Life in Black & White

Fabulous Fridays to you all!
Oh yeah baby! It's nearly the weekend!

This week the gorgeous girls at Scrapbook Sisters are having a Guest Designer call with the theme Black and White and I just had to have a go and play along.  I also of late have been having a secret love affair with inchies so I thought this was a great time to bring them to life on a card.

Now I also try and place my own challenges on myself and today I have done just that too! I have an overflowing box of card-stock scraps and it has an abundance of white (mainly left over from printing/stamping my images and card bases), and it was time the box got a work out.  My black box of scraps also got a workout and is now a little thinner too!  I also have been neglecting my Creative Inspirations and acrylic paints and thought with working with such a great color combo this would be a perfect time to dust them off.

I have to thank my little Ms Chloe Chatterbox for my technique used today - She told me all about her straw blowing painting that she did at school yesterday and the light-bulb in my head instantly clicked on the drive home as to what I was going to do!

I made my own DP (the black) by mixing my Creative Inspirations Paint (Winter Frost) with some of my white acrylic paint (I mixed the 2 as I wanted the shimmer from the CI paint but I wanted a real raised texture affect that I would get from the acrylic) and I sucked it up through a straw and 'blew'.  I got a great splattered paint effect (just what I was after) and the hardest part of this technique was having to force myself to go to bed while the paint dried!  I knew I would lose some of the simmer magic from the CI paints by mixing them but to go with the sentiment I wanted a light shimmer and it is soft and subtle and not in your face shimmery so I am so ecstatic with the end result.

I also could not resist raiding some of my new polka dot ribbon and new glitter black stem flowers.  I have also been dying to use this sentiment from Gingers House (freebie) and new it would go perfectly with this color combo!

I used my camera flash in this photo to try and show the shimmer I was able to get with the CI paint, it is soft, but it is there and so gorgeous!

I so enjoyed making this card and I hope you enjoyed your visit!
Thanks for dropping in on me today!
