A Christmas Card Start

Evening all, I hope you all had a lovely start to the week and Monday was kind to you!

It certainly was kind to me!  I had very much a day of leisure today, I did some unnecessary craft shopping and some window shopping, took myself out for lunch and I even managed to pull together a card tonight with some of my new goodies!

If you follow along with me you would be somewhat aware that I have been placing a lot of personal challenges on myself of late, and the reason being is from a comment from one of my girls from my class I teach.  She said to me "It is easy for you because this is what you do, this is what you know, craft and your style.  The colors you work with work with you because you pick them, they inspire you and you see a card by picking up just 3 sheets. I can't do that!"  So ... to put myself in their shoes I have began this journey of personally challenging myself along the way with my girls in class.

So here is how I challenged myself in several ways today with putting this card together.  I used papers and a ribbon I normally would not use, let alone buy (mainly for the print design and not the colors), I followed a sketch from Card Positioning Systems (I usually draft my own) and I decided it was time to get my few copics out and start playing with them - ok so my image (Audrey's  Presents from The Stamping Boutique) is colored but I know it hasn't got shading but I like it! (especially for a start) lol.  And it is somewhat a style I would not normally do as there is no distressing in sight, not even on one piece.  I made a "J card" for the first time and I followed the tutorial from ABC Christmas Challenge on how to make one, I would usually examine the pictures and follow a plan in my head. I normally would hand stitch but opted for my white gel pen and some faux stitching and while I added some ribbon, I have no bow!

OMG! Out of my comfort zone???
Indeed I was - But I think it paid off :))

Thank you for dropping in on me :)
