Tutoral - How to make faux buttons

Morning folks :)

Today I have a tutorial to share with you and
The Crafty Pad Challenge Blog
If you didn't know Bounty of Buttons is the TCP challenge this week!

I love buttons! And I love the fancy shaped ones and I love to co-ordinate buttons on my projects with my creations and this is a great tutorial on how to achieve that perfect match with the two.  There are a few really good tutorials out there on the www on how to do this already but I thought I would share the way I make mine and how you can personalize your buttons even more to suit your needs and projects at the time.

So here we go :)

How to make Faux Buttons

Materials
Cardstock (scraps work well for this project)
Designer Paper (scraps work well for this project)
A punch in the shape of your desired button
Glue / glue stick
Clear embossing powder
Versamark Pad
Heat gun
Tweezers
Eyelet punch
Hammer

For this tutorial I am making heart shaped buttons that I have cut using the Silhouette Cameo.

The how to-
1. From the designer paper, punch or cut 1 of your buttons shapes.
2. From cardstock punch or cut 4 of your button shapes.  If you feel your cardstock is a little thin you can add another layer.
3. Glue the 4 cardstock buttons on top of each other and then on the top layer, glue on your cut designer paper shape.

4. If you would like to distress or ink the edges of your button do this now.  For this tutorial I have distressed the button edges and also added some faux stitching to my button.
5. Glue your button up on the Versamark Pad and then cover with clear embossing powder and heat.  You will need your tweezers here to hold your button.

6. Take your eyelet punch and hammer and make the button holes.
7.  Glue your button up again on the Versamark Pad and coat with another layer of clear embossing powder.   I usually find that 2 coats of embossing powder gives a nice result though you can do more coats if you would like, giving it a deeper dimensional look.

 8. Your faux button is now finished and ready for you to embellish your crafty project with!

As you can see here on this card using Snowmen from The Crafty Pad Designs . I have used the heart shaped button from this tutorial.  I have also made some smaller heart buttons from my heart punch using the same designer paper.  Chances of me having ever being able to find buttons with faux stitching in two different sized heart shapes I think would have been near impossible and highly likely expensive; but now we can all have buttons in any shape and color that our projects desire!

Thanks for dropping by to see me and I hope you all enjoy the tut!

It's a Man Thing @ Crafty Ann's Challenge

Good morning folks!

It's time for a new challenge over at

This week it is all about the guys in our life with challenge

Of late I have been making a dent on my Christmas cards and today I managed to get one very special little mans card done :)  Dylan is fascinated with Santa at the moment and I thought Crafty Ann's - Santa Stuck Snow-globe would be perfect for him.  I took Santa out of the snow-globe for this card and being for boy went with C & S and the classic red and white combo.

Now we all know I am not a huge fan of C & S (only cause I suck at them and can not do C & S) but I absolutely love how this card fell into place.  I admit, if I was not going to distress the edges in any way I had to add some stitching and for some texture to the card on the snow drops and around the chimney I went over them with some pearly puffy paint. And Santa has been colored with Spectrum Noirs.  Dylan hates flowers and all the girly things so I think he should be as happy with this as I am :) *fingers crossed*

As always we have a fab prize for one lucky person who plays along with us this fortnight.
Your choice from
You could win -
2 digi stamps, 1 pre-coloured sheet and 1 backing paper collection.

Ann has been busy adding lots of new things into the store so please do pop over and have a browse.  And the girls have all done an outstanding job inspiring you all to play along with us so please stop by and share some love with them :)

I hope you all take up the challenge, I look forward to calling past to see you all.

Thanks for dropping by to see me and I wish you all a crafty weekend!

Shabby Chic Week @ Moving Along With The Times

Yah! It is Thursday!
Not only does that mean we are one day away from the weekend !
but it is also time for another new challenge at

Sweety Sue in the hostess with the most-ess this week and she has chosen one of my favs!
Shabby Chic or Vintage Image or Both

It was too hard for me to resist not going the Shabby Chic road today. Being it is freezing here of an evening and when I do most my crafting, my mind can not help but wonder to Christmas at the moment :-)  I love Christmas at any time of the year but I have found that I get most of my Christmas stuff done in in the cooler months.  I am still waiting for hubby to come home one day and surprise me with a plane ticket to New York for a white Christmas (think I will be waiting a while yet though lol)

Anyway enough jibber jabber and on with some pics!
Zee front.

Zee inside.

Zee back.

The deets on this little honey - All designed by me :)) so proud as it actually worked!  is the stocking card base and all the stocking accessories (layers and patches) and they were drawn and created on the Silhouette Cameo.  Could not resist decorating it from front to back :$ And I have stitched all the DP layers (from front to back, but it looks soo good that I HAD too do it!)  The patches and the roll over at the top I have embossed with a spotty dotty embossing folder, then ink distressed them.  For the patches they then have had a coat of Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds (looks lush IRL!) and the roll over at the top got a good coating of Flowersoft Diamond Range in Polar White (wow that stuff glitters and shines)!

Yes I have been having a ball playing with all my new stuff from my recent spending spree! But I did also manage to make a good dent in my old stash of papers, cardstock and flowers.  The paper is from a Christmas Papermania pad that is over a year old now (and never touched OMG that is bad!) and the Prima Flower and bead thingy's I have had sitting around for over 6 months!

We have a super duper sponsor this week and I love to shop here too!
A very big thank you to ...
Crafty Emma's Store!

This is a great prize to be playing for so I hope you all join us!

girls all have some absolute stunning creations to wow you this week.
So come on over and have a peak!
I hope you can all join us in the challenge this week :))

Va Va Voom! with us at Moving Along With The Times

Feeling ....
.......
.............
.......................
sexy peeps?

We have a saucy hot one for you all this week at

Shell is showing us her wild side and challenging us to
Va Va Voom!
(She and we, wanna see sexy ladies!)

For a challenge this hot,
Kenny K works a treat and hey look at that!
They are also sponsoring us this week and gave all the girls some boob-a-licious girls to work with!  Though I have had Ms Cheyenne in my stash for a while and she was whipping at me to get out my stash :$
So this week I had a play with the sexy Cheyenne and made a rather wild Birthday card for one of our navy mates. Being he is currently in the Gulf,  I thought he might appreciate seeing *ahem* a piece of flesh :$

Guess you can tell that Flo Rida and Wild One was playing in my head (and in the background) while making this one :))  For those not familiar I have included the You Tube video.  The girls and I all get our booty's a swinging to this one on the radio when ever it comes on.  (too much information??? lol)  Being for a male, I kept the embellishments and flowers to a minimum, but could not resist adding the dog tags around the sentiment.

Thanks for dropping in on me and I hope you like what you see :)
And I hope you all call past the
Moving Along With The Times Blog
And check out the flesh the DT have showing over there!

Marvelous Monday Morning all!

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.  I sure did, hubby the kids and I headed off to the beach for some fun and as the weather is getting cooler down here, I think it might be the last trip for a while lol

Anyway, enough jibber jabber!

Christmas in March with Crafty Ann's Challenge

Fabulous Friday to you all!

Lets kick start the weekend by crafting along to this fortnights challenge with
#62 - Christmas In March
I think we are all a little guilty of never quite being fully prepared for Christmas when it approaches so why not take the challenge with us this week and make an early head start on those Christmas cards or gifts so when December rolls around this year, you can sit back, pick up a drink and for once, not be one of those madly insane people you see running around at the last minute trying at best to get yourself into gear and organized for the SILLY SEASON!

With Christmas usually ending up being more expensive than a joyous occasion on the wallet I have started doing my usually and began stocking up on pressies and gifts that I have spotted on sale through out the year.  This gorgeous paper pierced snowman cracker and matching tag made the perfect packaging for a necklace that is for Ben's mum this year.  I usually don't start my pressie wrapping till closer to Christmas but this year I seem to have two little gremlins who have started exploring what goodies are hidden in my bedroom cupboards and I think it is a good way to take even more of the Christmas rush out of the equation.

This little snowman fellow is of course the gorgeous guy from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop.  There are some very versatile images of this little guy in the shop from being a single image to being in a snow-globe and also a decoration, so there is lots of ideas for him along with other stunningly gorgeous Christmas images so please do stop by the shop for a look.

By playing along with us this week you will be in the running to win
2 digi images, 1 Backing paper collection and 1 pre-coloured sheet of your choice from the gorgeous Crafty Ann's!

Thanks for dropping by to see me this week and I wish you all a crafty weekend!
