Ribbon with The Crafty Pad

Another week gone! And this one has seen the majority of my days tending to sick children.  They are not only sharing the love ~ they are sharing their germs *fingers crossed* they don't share it with me as I sure do not want it!

But ... another week means another new challenge at
And this week we are playing with RIBBON!

The DT were very fortunate this week to be given two lengths of seam binding from Crafty Ribbons and I had great fun playing with it.

It is the same ribbon but you can achieve two styles - Modern or Vintage.
Want the crisp, clean Modern look, then leave the ribbon as it is.
For the crinkly, aged Vintage look, spray with a little water until it is moist, scrunch up into a ball and leave overnight to dry - simple!
I went with the Vintage look and to add some firmness to the ribbon so my bow on the bone would sit really nice I added a dash of PVA glue.
This was so much fun to play with and if you change your mind on the style you want, you can just iron it flat again! How COOL IS THAT :))

This is a pic of the prize up for grabs this week!
Now I know you ALL wanna get your hands on it! So come along and have a play with us.  We love to see those Crafty Pad Images but it is not a requirement so there is NO EXCUSE for not joining us this week!

This week I made an adorable red wine bottle holder and matching gift tag. This would be great for sitting on the table or as a different alternative to the boring old wine bottle gift bag.

I can see as Christmas gets nearer this year I will be making some really festive ones for gifts and for useful  & practical decorations for the table.

As white wine is usually chilled and gets condensation this model is not really suitable as the skeleton is just card stock.
BUT ...
If you used acetate as the skeleton and add a layer over the bottom base you could then decorate with your choice of DP and embellish as you wish!  And *wella* you would have a white wine bottle holder!   I promise I will get to making an acetate one to show you all :)

So how about some pics before I ramble on to much more!

I am planning on giving this as a house warming gift, and as they already have everything, I thought a good bottle of wine would be nice.

I used Crafty Pad - A dogs life image that you can purchase from HERE and I have colored it with my water color pencils this week.  I added some 'bling' to the cats necklace and for the eyes on both the cat and dog.  I also got out the super fine beads and glued them down for the roof.  I added a few dog charms and the plastic bone that I picked up from a local trash to treasure sale.

I love the DP on the base of the stand  it reminds me of an Italian pizza and pasta restaurant table cloth and the DP on the bottle is a grape and fruit image. The whole creation gives me a feel of a beautiful Italian homemade meal, rich in taste, love and good company.

My Dancing Princess

Today is the beginning of new fortnightly challenge over at Gingerloft Challenges with Add Those Flowers!

We wanna see flowers this week, weather it be one or many!

As always the top 3 will be offered a GDT position with us and  the random winner will also receive a Gingerloft Digi Set.

This week I got crafting and made an adorable Birthday card for my teen niece.
It features ribbon flowers with dry embossed leaves from handmade paper.  I also got out some of my corrugated card-stock to add some texture and dimension and I am just loving the colors all pink, pretty and girly.

I find when I craft for the kids that I seem to be my playing my favorite song of all time and craft and sing along to; I hope you dance by Lee Anne Womack.  This is my fav song that I live by, it is always playing and I always sing it to my kids... You can see it on you tube HERE.  The dance theme for this card I believe came from this song being in the background.

This week I have used Gingerloft Digital Stamp Ice skating AND BONUS it's a FREEBIE :)
You can grab it by clicking HERE.  Please be kind and leave a comment for Tami, link back to the site if you use the image and we would love to see what you create so please post back and share your creation(s).

Enough talk and time for some pics!

Tummy Yummy with The Crafty Pad

Before I get to this weeks challenge at The Crafty Pad I would like  to share with you all a quick photo of our weekend.
This weekend we were blessed with a super quick 48 hour visit from hubby who flew home to help us celebrate Our Little Miss Emile turning the BIG ONE!

The time goes so slow between his visits home but so fast when he is here :( We had a wonderful weekend and Little Miss Emilie loved having her daddy home even if it was only for a blink of an eye :(  It is moments like these I have come to treasure and hold close to my heart.

But enough with the tears and onto things that make us happy and that would be crafting away to this weeks challenge and I assure you it is something really yummy this week!
You guessed it! This week The Crafty Pad girls wanna see
SOMETHING YUMMY FOR YOUR TUMMY!

And this week we are being sponsored by the lovely Crafty Emma Store.
The random winner will scoop up their choice of Memory Box 6x6 Paper Pad!
Have you seen these papers?
They are so adorable that if you haven't seen them then I assure you you will be adding them to your wish /must have list!

This week I could not resist getting my Copics out & coloring The Crafty Pad Berry Sweet Strawberry that you can purchase HERE.   I thought this would go perfectly as a label for one of my jars of homemade Strawberry Jam.  A jar of jam can't be given alone, so I whipped up a gorgeous little piklet/pancake hamper basket to go with it.

The hamper contains a mix & shake pancake satchel, a can of ready whipped cream, the jar of homemade strawberry jam & a few chocolates thrown in for good measure :)

I got creative with my embellishments this week & set to making some of my favorite flowers in pink.  I added one to the lid of the strawberry jam & I made a really nice big one to place on the basket handle.  I added some adorable strawberry buttons I found at Scrappers Haven the other day & to keep with the homely feel I went with raffia today & added one big ribbon bow on the basket handle.

This little basket full of goodies I am donating to my girls daycare center for them to use on a cooking day.  I think little finger people would love shaking the mix up & I am sure those little tummy's will love eating the results :P

Remember - to play along with The Crafty Pad Challenge you do not need to use a Crafty Pad image but we sure do like to see them, so please use them if you have one :)

I hope I will see you at this weeks challenge - you have till Saturday Evening at 8pm GMT to get your entries in!

Furry Friends with Gingerloft Challenges #12

Good evening all!
Where has this fortnight gone?
I have been flat out like a lizard drinking drinking this week,
but I still found some time to get down and crafty.

This fortnight the girls at Gingerloft Challenges are showcasing
off furry friends in challenge #12.

I stumbled across a box of empty snow-globes in the shed during
a clean up that I didn't even know I had,
so I chose this week to play and make
a snow-globe for Chloe in honor of Winnie The Pooh
and in hope that she will keep her paws off my glass ones!
(The theory is good but the practical is not working out the best just yet :$ )

This is the first time I have played with a snow-globe
and I was quite amazed at how much it magnifies the
original image. I was going to add some ribbon over the top and s
ome little embellishmentslike some leaves and maybe some gems
along the bottom but I had to beg Chloe to be aloud to have it for
just one momentto take a photo of it,
let alone get my hands on it to add more pieces.

With the amount she is handling it I think it is best to leave
any of the additional wishes on hold, as she will just end up pulling
them all off and probably eating them.
(She is 2 and everything goes in her mouth STILL! ! ! )

I think he turned out rather cute!

I used New Polar Bear image from GingerLoft and guess what ???
He is a FREEBIE so why don't you head over there now,
grab him and play along with us at Gingerloft Challenges in this weeks challenge

Color me with Red, Pink and Black @ The Crafty Pad

Color me in Red, Pink & Black
with The Crafty Pad Challenge this week!

Now that is a yummy combination on its own at the best of times.
But this week, it's the tune the girls at
The Crafty Pad are playing along to!

And with a Joanna Sheen £10 gift voucher up for grabs!
I know you wanna play along with us too!

With a voucher to go shopping up for grabs
I thought I would get ready to go do some spending
and crafted a gorgeous paper handbag / purse!

I tried a new technique this week and used some shrink plastic!
Never played with it before and it was a new one for me.
I did freak out a little when it all rolled into a ball but as you shall
see it all flattened itself out in the end *phew* :)
I also made some adorable handmade flowers using my
favorite technique & the material is from an old chemise of mine that
I have been hording but have now faced the reality my
boobs will never go back to "pre-children" size lol
And added a touch of pearls to
finish with the posh pins.

I used a Core Dinations paper and distressed and sanded it down to
bring out the flourish pattern and black core color.
I also inked over it with my Brilliance Dew Drop Ink Pad
and the flowers in the bow are from my stash of
Prima Pink Songbird Vine. (So in love with these!)

Today I also chose a Crafty Pad Image
Rose for 0.99p that you can purchase by clicking HERE
And I colored it with ... My NEW COPICS -
Yes ... I have finally brought some and am staring a collection :$

I think she looks beautiful to the point that I don't know how I am
going to part with it and send it lol.

Now ... It's your turn to show me Red, Pink and Black
and by sure to drop by The Crafty Pad for some more scrummy
inspiration from the DT girls.

With no requirements to use a Crafty Pad image there is
no excuse for not playing along with us!
Though we sure do like to see those images
on your cards!

The Crafty Pad - Hearts #108

Good evening all!

Wow can you believe a week has gone by already?
Where does the time go?
I am going to make this one a short one this week as I have a crafty card idea in my head itching to get out!

This week at The Crafty Pad we are challengeing YOU
to use HEARTS on your projects (Challenge #108).

Our sponsor this week is Creative Craft World

If you have not had a peak at their site then you need! You will be sorry if you don't!

That's enough talking form me and on with the pictures!

I created a beautiful bookmark for hubby for valentines seeing as he has become a study worm of late.
And it of course had to have its photo shot with one of Chloe's Winnie The Pooh Books as she insisted on it!
I used Teds In Love Image from The Crafty Pad and you can purchase it from here.

Paris and English Roses

Paris and English roses to me on a general note do not mix, but this is what I had in mind while piecing this card together.  I will say that English roses are not my general thing nor is Paris my style but I had a plan in mind and ... nope it still did not go to the plan.  I was originally thinking all straight lines and a good two or maybe 3 matts but ... Creativity goes where the imagination leads and today I let it lead me.

I decided I was going to play along with the challenge over on Picture & Scrap and this week we have to play with this image.
(I added a dark rose tint to mine)
This is what I ended up with.  As I said, not generally my style but this is growing on me the longer it sits on the mantel piece :)   I love how the feathers soften the picture and I so am in love with the chipboard sign and the posh pins! I even took a flame to the papers to give it a real distressed look and it worked magic on the black cardstock and really brought out a true distressed color.

Fair winds and following seas,
The Navy Wife
